Namibia to Host Inaugural Global Africa Hydrogen Summit in September 2024

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Honourable Tom Alweendo, announced that Namibia will host the first Global Africa Hydrogen Summit in September 2024. The event, themed “From Ambition to Action: Fuelling Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution,” will gather international stakeholders to discuss innovative approaches to sustainable energy production across the African continent.

Namibia, along with other African nations, is dedicated to supporting global decarbonization efforts. The continent contributes less than 5% to global carbon emissions but remains committed to a Pan-African approach that explores and leverages low-carbon technologies to drive sustainable growth.

The summit will provide a platform for discussions and collaborations on advancing green hydrogen initiatives and other sustainable energy projects. It marks a significant step for Namibia and the region in leading the charge towards a greener future.
