– The Parliament of Namibia, will host a Meeting of the Budget Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Africa Region in Windhoek from today until the 26th of January. The Committee is in charge of organizing, facilitating, and formulating recommendations of the Association’s financial investments.

– Liberia’s new President 79 year old Joseph Boakai failed to reach the end of his speech and had to be helped away from the podium during his swearing-in ceremony yesterday. Concern about Mr Boakai’s health was a major issue during the election campaign, but he told the BBC that he was in good health and “age should be a blessing to this country”. – BBC

– The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has funded politically-motivated assassinations in Yemen, a BBC investigation has found, exacerbating a conflict involving the Yemeni government and warring factions which has recently returned to the international spotlight following attacks on ships in the Red Sea. – BBC
