6 ways to stay motivated & inspired over the holidays
- KEEP YOUR WAKE UP TIME
I know this sounds like terrible advice, but getting more sleep in the holidays does not mean you will wake up with more energy. Try & stick to a semi-normal routine. Of course give yourself an extra half an hour here & there but oversleeping is not the answer. Not only is this helpful for getting stuff done, it also makes going back after the break that much easier!
- USE YOUR PLANNER
Enjoy the possibility that a blank 2017 planner holds. Take the spare time to do a little reflection about the year ahead & what you really would like to achieve.
If you missed it earlier this year have a browse through the 99FM Toolkit for knowing who you are click here.
- TRY SOMETHING NEW
Look around for new things that pop up in the market. A new coffee shop, maybe a restaurant you haven’t tried before or something on the menu you’ve never tried before.
If you’re relaxing at home check out DStv and GOtv’s new pop-up channel – MNet Inspire. Every evening from 5:45pm until 29 Jan 2017. You’ll find some of the most inspirational and motivating feelgood movies or catch up on stories about the triumphs of the human spirit with The TD Jakes Show. DStv Premium & Compact customers can find it on channel 109, GOtv Plus on channel 19. For the full guide click here.
- ONE THING AT A TIME
Don’t let your overdue list of TO DO’s spoil your bit of rest & relaxation time. That rushy crazy feeling won’t just go away if you try to cram too much into your break. Set aside some time every day for your own mini inspiration session – 10 minutes every day that’s all.
- LOOSEN UP
Often feeling uninspired & demotivated is not just a mental thing – it can have a physical element as well.
Get yourself to a better state by getting going. Doesn’t have to be extreme- try dancing, hiking or even yoga. Stretch & move your body & your mind will follow.
- SMILE, LAUGH & ….CRY
Remember some of the best inspiration happens when you’re not alone. Make sure you balance your inspiration alone time with a healthy dose of friends. Smiling & laughing (& the odd cry) will always lift your spirits.
Happy inspiration season
