IWPP donates N$19.8 Million in vehicles and equipment to boost Namibia’s wildlife protection
The Integrated Wildlife Protection Project (IWPP), co-financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through KfW Development Bank, has handed over 22 vehicles and IT equipment worth NAD 19.8 million (approx. EUR 1 million) to Namibia’s Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism (MEFT).
The donation, which includes 21 4×4 patrol vehicles, one sedan, and various IT equipment such as computers and SMART devices, aims to strengthen the Ministry’s Wildlife Protection Service (WPS) unit in its efforts to protect endangered species, particularly elephants and rhinos, and combat wildlife crime.
These investments support MEFT’s broader objective of sustainable natural resource management and rural economic development while conserving vital ecosystems.
