Ever found yourself stuck in traffic, dreaming of escaping to a place completely different? Maybe less crowded, less cars? Well, buckle up, because we’re taking a virtual trip to Tuvalu – a tiny island nation in the middle of the Pacific, where citizens are prohibited from buying cars, except for government officials.

Living in Tuvalu

Imagine this: One Road, One Country. Seriously, Tuvalu is so small, it’s basically one long street. You could walk the entire length of the country in a couple of Hours. Forget needing a car – most folks get around on foot or by scooter. Buying cars is actually forbidden, except for government employees.

Believe it or not, a huge chunk of Tuvalu’s income comes from its internet domain: “.tv” (dot tv). That’s right, every time someone registers a “.tv” website, Tuvalu gets a little bit of cash. Talk about a 21st-century economy!

Moreover, forget swiping your credit card. Tuvalu is a cash-only society. There’s only one bank in the entire country, and just one ATM. Imagine having to go to the bank just to check your balance!

That’s not all, you know those super-strict prisons you see in movies? Yeah, Tuvalu’s prison is… different. Word has it, it’s practically an open-door facility. Inmates even go out to work during the day!

Apparently, gambling is a major pastime in Tuvalu. Locals often gather to gamble, with some serious cash on the line.
