City of Windhoek warns residents about payment scam

The City of Windhoek has issued a scam alert, warning residents to be cautious of fraudsters impersonating municipal officials.

According to the City’s spokesperson, Lydia Amutenya, scammers are contacting residents and demanding payments under the false claim that municipal services will be disconnected.

The municipality said that it does not request payments via unsolicited phone calls.

Residents are advised to make payments only through official City cash halls, banks, or approved electronic platforms, and to report any suspicious calls to the authorities.
