A 46-year-old man has been arrested in Omusati region on Wednesday for allegedly killing his younger brother at Oshilulu village in the Okahao Constituency.

The incident happened around 18h55 at the homestead shared by the two brothers.

Omusati regional commander, commissioner Ismael Basson said the suspect allegedly used a sharp object, a vehicle shock absorber, and sticks to assault the brother (44) on the head and face. The victim died on the spot.

Basson further said domestic violence is involved, and the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

In addition, Basson said a 15-year-old boy has been denied bail by the Outapi Magistrate’s Court for the alleged murder and robbery of 60-year-old woman at Onheleiwa Village in the Etayi Constituency last Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Frieda Nakakalepo Hamufungu.

Basson said preliminary reports indicate the suspect entered Hamufungu’s home and struck her on the back of the head with an unknown object, killing her, before stealing her mobile phone and MTC SIM card.

Police have since recovered the stolen property. The case has been postponed to October 29th.

Investigations into all matters continue.
