#TheTribeExclusive Featuring Sally Boss Madam

On this throw edition of ‘The Tribe’, we take a moment to sit down with 2018 NAMAs Female Artist of The Year Sally Boss Madam. We talk about her last album ‘My Black’ which is still ruling airwaves and dance floors across Namibia as well as her NAMAs experience.

How was it like working on your album ‘My Black’?

To be quite honest, it was a different role for me. I wouldn’t normally get beats from around Africa but to leave my home and do that and working in another studio was very different.

People want to put their money on you. Endorse you. How do you manage to get there?

It means you’re doing something right.  I know I’m Sally constantly and I consider myself one of the luckiest people on the planet because I have so many people who are always ready to assist me and to jump in to help me. I never feel at an advantage, I always feel supported and loved.

First of all, I was not really aware of the brand, because there are so many brands out there. People are innovative, people are coming up with their own things which is super great for our industry.

Can you tell us about where you are going?

I always come back and announce something. There’s always something up my sleeve.

Are people getting the recognition that they deserve in the Namibian music industry especially at the NAMAs?

This is the first year to be quite honest where I’ve got on social media and I don’t see anyone complaining.

Normally once the awards are done, it’s fire, fire, fire! But this is the first year that I’m seeing the awards happening and nobody is complaining. Yes there were a few hiccups here and there, there’s always controversy around it, but for this year in general it was just a heartfelt event.

People were assisting each other, it was great to see that artists are coming together and when the big night came I wanted to cry.
