JAZZ-ETCETERA WITH CHANTELL UIRAS

Date & Time: Thursday, 24 August 2017 @ 19:00 – 21:30

Venue: Hilton Kalabar

Chantell Uiras is an actress, spoken word artist and a musician with unique sensuality.

Her voice lends itself to soothing, laid back ballads which are her trade mark, but it does not end there…

The combination of her and Nyasha Chirau, a Zimbabwean vocalist and her accompanist on keyboards and percussion, creates a deeply rooted, soulful African synergy.

ONGOMA LIVE AT THE BOILER ROOM!

Ongoma is back at the Boiler Room with a beautifully souped-up sound in the form of brand new state-of-the-art marimbas, hand built in Zimbabwe. Marimba means “Voice of wood”.

Their voices of wood are a trio of soprano, tenor, and base marimbas, played by Raymond Mupfumira, Thabiso Dube and Hatitye Mtukwa with Chris Eiseb and Manyiza Andre on percussion.

Ongoma’s sound is the sound of Africa. Contemporary expressions on traditional instruments.

Think township vibe.

A fusion of African classics, funky original compositions and high energy rhythms in true “The natives are restless…” fashion.
