Celebrating Multichoice Namibia’s 25th Anniversary with Ciska Hayward
Bringing Communities Together
Is what you are doing now what you’ve always wanted to do?
Yes. I am very happy to be a MultiChoice Namibia agent. We work really well together. It’s been a fruitful relationship. There has been a lot of opportunities for us, where we won a lot of prizes. It is a pleasure to wake up in the morning to go to work because there is always something new to learn or experience.
What’s your favorite movie or series and why did it speak to you so much?
It’s an old movie. Sound of Music, its all about music, love and children. That’s the recipe for a successful life.
What is your biggest success up until now?
To be a MultiChoice Namibia agent and to deliver the best service for them to the people in Mariental. This year in December marks 25 years that I’ve been a MultiChoice Namibia agent. I’ve been an agent for MultiChocie Namibia for 25 years now. We started officially in December 1992 and I’m still here and aim to be here for the next 25 years and longer, because we work really well together.
What do you prefer, movies or theatre?
Here in Mariental, we don’t have theaters, so of course movies. We watch movies on Box Office on DStv. A lot of people here have DStv because there is no other entertainment.
What channel or show do you like and why?
I like making food. So I like the Food Network channel. I love watching that because I love food. I love cooking.
How did you become a MultiChoice Namibia agent?
My father applied for it when he heard MultiChoice is coming to Namibia. He was approved as an agent. After school I started working for my father. MultiChoice Namibia came to train me here in Mariental to do the work. My father basically left me alone to run the business and after my father passed away I just signed a new contract with MultiChoice and that is how I am still an agent today. We still get regular training from them, as the technology changes.
How has this enriched your life?
To be able to do something for people and to mean something to them. To be of value to my community. Everyone knows me and I know them. People in Mariental know me as MultiChoice. The service we deliver, I feel, we do it out of love. When I walk into the shop in Mariental everyone greets me and I greet them.
How are you enriching your community?
We help the elderly in our community. We give first preference to them. The convenience of our customers is our priority. Sometimes we go to their houses if they don’t have transport or can’t come to the agency. We also give donations in the community where there is a need. If we have to do a delivery for any of our customers, when they call, we go out of our way to do so. We are there to help them. Customer service is our first priority.
What’s your philosophy in life?
Be honest. Work hard and enjoy life to the fullest. I think if you use that as a guideline for life, you will have a great recipe for life.
Do you have a 25th message for MultiChoice Namibia?
Thank you for what you mean for me in my life up until now. I enjoy working with you. I hope we can work together another fifty years.
