COSAFA Cup 2016 “We Can Beat Botswana”, Mannetti

This year’s COSAFA Cup 2016 will be staged in Namibia from June 11-25. Namibia, last year’s winners will be hosting the event for the first time with Windhoek set to stage the matches across two venues. Namibia has been drawn against Botswana in the quarter finals. The event will see 13 other nations compete in the two week football showpiece. The Trophy Tour started on 21 May at the Khuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay followed by Okahandja on 27 May and Gobabis on Saturday 28 May. The roadshow will conclude at the UN Plaza in Katutura on 10 June. “Honestly, if by the first game we don’t fill up the stadium I will personally send a request to COSAFA to take the rest of the games to South Africa,” said Brave Warriors head coach, Ricardo Mannetti. “At the end of the day, why are we playing, why are we hosting the Cup if we can’t fill up the stadium,” Mannetti added.

This week Spotlight News speaks to Brave Warriors Head Coach Ricardo Mannetti and Zebras (Botswana) Head Coach Peter Butler on the teams’ preparation and expectations as well as Gita Paetzold, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) on the effects such big events have on the country’s tourism industry.
