FAO launches crucial animal health vaccination campaign in NCA

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has announced its unwavering support for the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR) in executing a vital animal health vaccination campaign across Namibia’s Northern Communal Areas (NCAs).

This comprehensive campaign aims to combat prevalent and potentially devastating animal health diseases that pose significant threats to livestock in Namibia. By prioritizing the Northern Communal Areas, where livestock serves as a fundamental source of income, food security, and sustenance for numerous communities, the initiative seeks to safeguard the livelihoods of local residents.

The vaccination effort underscores the collaborative efforts of the FAO, DVS, and MAWLR in addressing the critical health needs of livestock populations. By targeting the most common ailments affecting animals in the region, the campaign aims to bolster the resilience of Namibia’s agricultural sector and enhance the overall well-being of rural communities.

As the vaccination campaign unfolds, stakeholders emphasize the importance of widespread participation and cooperation from local farmers and communities. By collectively embracing this initiative, stakeholders can fortify the health and sustainability of the country’s vital livestock resources, ensuring a brighter future for agricultural endeavors in the region.
