HIV/AIDS Prevalence Among Youth Between Ages 15-24 Years at 8%
“The biggest challenge to human development today, particularly Namibia are high levels of unemployment especially among the youth, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the high level of drop outs and non-completion especially of secondary and tertiary education.”
This was the sentiments of Ms. Lucia Ipumbu, Deputy Minister for Economic Planning at the Namibia launch of the Human Development Report, under the theme: “Work for Human Development”.
Ipumbu stated that over the last ten years our Human Development Index has been affected by the increase in HIV/Aids incidences, adding that the HIV prevalence between the ages of 15 to 24 is at 8%.
