I remember the first time I watched a movie at the cinema, how mesmerized I was. I remember the films that made me cry, and the ones that made me laugh. The ones that I saw with my friends who’s lines became our catch-phrases and inside jokes.
Most fondly, I remember my first “movie date”.
He was nervous, I was nervous and there was this giant screen in front of us whose sole purpose was to distract us from our nerves, to transport us to a whole other world. Essentially this film would always serve as a reminder of the first time we ever fell-in love. It ceased being just a movie, it became so much more, it morphed into being a part of us. It became a part of our LOVE story.
#LANDoftheBRAVEfilm is the brainchild of writer, director, Tim Huebschle. A title which immediately jumps out at me, simply because of the Hashtag.
“Our intention is to make a movie that will be screened in the cinema and tv stations, but beyond that the story will be told across the social media platforms and a hashtag immediately triggers that,” he said.
This is a story about Namibians, by Namibians. The film will be shot across Namibia, showing the different landscapes, the different faces, and the various cultural backgrounds that make up this beautiful land. According to Tim, you really get a sense of who we are as a people. There is a coloured protagonist, an Oshiwambo supporting lead, a German coroner, and the chief inspector is Otjiherero.
The film itself is still in the works. Line producer Caillin Basson reveals, “from a financial aspect we have 65 percent of the budget, hence we have a crowdfunding campaign through Indiegogo to help us with that extra 35 percent.” She further stressed that any kind of contribution would be helpful, it doesn’t have to be monetary. You can offer accomodation, furniture for the set, and even volunteer your time to help around the set.
#LANDoftheBRAVEfilm, is a part of us. It’s our love story. Just like any wonderful love story, it needs to be told in order to be fell in-love with.
So give what you have, give from your heart. Every dollar counts.
