The Ministry of International Relations and Trade says efforts are underway to locate Namibian citizen Nguvi Mberirua, following a video circulating on social media that has raised concern among members of the public.

International Relations Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi says the Namibian High Commission in London is aware of the matter and is working to establish Mberirua’s whereabouts. She says officials traced an address linked to her, but found that she no longer resides there.

The minister says authorities remain committed to finding her and providing assistance where possible.

“It is heartbreaking when I look at the video,” Ashipala-Musavyi said, while acknowledging the public concern surrounding the matter.

She also appealed to Namibians living abroad to support and look out for one another, describing citizens overseas as part of one extended family.

The minister urged Namibians travelling abroad for studies, business, or tourism to register with their nearest embassy or high commission so that authorities are aware of their presence and can provide assistance when needed.

Ashipala-Musavyi further called on members of the public to avoid sharing sensitive situations on social media without first engaging the relevant authorities or contacting the person’s family.

“Let’s take care of one another,” she said, adding that protecting the dignity of Namibians abroad should remain a collective responsibility.
