Namibia records more than 163,000 cyber events in third quarter

The national cyber response team is raising concerns over the growing number of digital threats, after recording more than 500,000 cyber vulnerabilities and 163,000 cyber events during the third quarter of 2026. The latest report by the Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT) identifies security incidents involving the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs and the RelyComply anti-money laundering platform. The findings point to the growing cybersecurity risks facing public institutions and private-sector organisations, particularly as more services and information are managed digitally. NAM-CSIRT and the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) are urging organisations and individuals to strengthen their cybersecurity measures. These include regularly updating software and systems, keeping secure backups of important data, using multi-factor authentication and applying stricter access controls.
