New Nuclear Bill discussed in Zambezi Region

The Atomic Energy Board of Namibia, held a stakeholder engagement at Kamunu Village hall, in the Katima Mulilo Town, on Monday. 

UNAM physics lecturer, Tauno Nanghonga commended the initiative in view of the advanced technological use in various fields, which calls for proper regulations. 

The meeting was held to engage the public regarding the proposed Nuclear bill, before it is tabled in parliament.  

Naghonga told NewsOnOne that the bill will play a significant role in regulating the functions of the nuclear institute.  

Health ministry, chief radiation physicist, Paulus Ngalangi said many concerns raised regarding the nuclear bill, have to do with governance and protection of the environment. 

The health ministry began a series of public consultations on the proposed draft Nuclear Bill this month. 

Consultations have already been held in Gobabis, Mariental, Otjiwarongo, Keetmanshoop, Omuthiya, Swakopmund, Eenhana, Rundu, Oshakati, Oshana with the final consultation taking place in Windhoek on 17 July.
