Napalma is the musical inspiration born out of a fusion between Brazilian and African culture and music. Created in 2004 during the carnival in Vitoria, Brazil, Napalma has been touring and performing around different continents over the last 13 years.

Windhoek is part of Napalma’s Africa Tour to launch their brand-new album “A Big Funky Family – Vol. 1”. Napalma’s funky sound is the result of powerful electronic dance grooves, percussion and rhythms from Brazil, mixed with a riveting performance and inspiring vocals in Portuguese, English and Shangaan – melting their cultural heritage into an unforgettable concert.

Date: Tuesday, 17 April 2018 18:00 – 20:00

Venue: StArt @ The Wolfshack

Specifically using circular canvases to create this body of work, Stadtherr has worked on paintings that explore abstract shapes that relate to her immediate environment. Stadtherr has had a number of solo exhibitions during her career and this exhibition also marks the launch of a comprehensive catalogue that covers a large portion of her career.

‘Tondi’ refers to the Renaissance term used to describe works of art with a round or circular composition. Drawing a lot of inspiration from her garden and the natural environment, Stadtherr’s choice of a circular composition reflects the cyclical nature of the environment around her.

Elemotho and his band “Modern Nomads” will invoke the spirit of the ancestors with his melodies and rhythms before hitting the road for his international tour to HIFA (Zimbabwe), WOMAD (Spain), Afro-Pingsten (Switzerland) and many other stops. The show is aptly called Kalahari Invocations as the UK award nominee dwells into his history to bring you glimpses of the traditional Setswana sounds which influence his music.
