Police interview over 60 people in the Okahandja child-murders’

By: Josia Shigwedha

The Acting Police Inspector General, Anne Marie-Nainda, says they have interviewed over 60 persons of interest, in connection with the murders of Ingrid Maasdorp, Roslin Fabian and Beyoncé !Kharuxas, in Okahandja between April and May 2025.

Nainda said no arrests linked to the cases have been made.

She said this on Saturday, during a public engagement with Okahandja residents held in the garden town.

Nainda also said they have expanded the murder-cases’ police team, as they continue with investigations.

She urged Okahandja residents to desist from spreading false information about the murders’ citing the removal of private parts as a false narrative about the victims.

“I also just want to demystify the perception that these cases are linked to each other.

At this stage, we can’t say that. That it’s linked and the issue of saying there’s a serial killer and all of that, the facts that we have does not confirm that at this stage. But the cases are active.

We are working around the clock,” said Naida.

Nainda said the cases remain active and are still a top priority for the Namibian police.

She appealed to members of the public who may have information that could assist the investigations to report it to the police.

“Every little bit of information or clue that we are getting, immediately we are having a team that is reinforced by our senior detectives that are basically frequenting Okahandja to follow up the leads. So, we are continuously doing that and we are still expecting the members of the public to come forth. And we are appealing to the public to still give us information until we successfully conclude these cases.

It’s a top priority at all levels, particularly of the police,” said Naida.

Nainda also warned members of the public against using pictures of the three children on promotional material or posters, urging the public to respect the girls’ families.
