MIND BUZZER: The idea that you can fully sink and disappear in quicksand is largely a myth!

Quicksand is a mixture of sand, water, and sometimes clay or silt. Its unique properties make it behave like a liquid when disturbed but retain the density of a solid.
Here’s why you cannot sink:
So next time this happens, here’s what to do:
- Stay Calm: Panicking and struggling will make the situation worse by increasing the liquefaction of the sand.
- Move Slowly: Try to wiggle your legs gently to create space for water to flow back into the sand, loosening its grip.
- Lean Back: Spread your weight over a larger area by leaning back or lying flat on your back. This increases buoyancy and helps you float.
- Use Nearby Objects: If possible, use a stick or branch to distribute your weight and pull yourself out slowly.
