If building your career through international fellowships, research or creative collaboration sounds like something you’d be interested in, here are three opportunities worth knowing about this week. One could give you a paid professional placement with organisations across Africa. Another offers international AI researchers up to €2,800 a month to conduct research in Germany. And the third supports artists and cultural practitioners looking to develop international projects between Germany and countries beyond.
Princeton in Africa Fellowship 2027–2028 — Paid Fellowship Across Africa
The Princeton in Africa Fellowship offers young professionals and graduating students a 12-month paid fellowship with organisations working in areas such as public health, education, agriculture, economic development, humanitarian assistance and youth development.
The fellowship is open to graduates of four-year U.S.-accredited universities or four-year locally accredited universities in Africa. Applicants can hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD, must have professional English proficiency, and must be no older than 35 during the fellowship year.
Fellows can receive a living stipend and housing, with fellowship packages varying by placement. Support can also include certain visas or work permits, medical and evacuation insurance, and travel-related assistance.

Heilbronn AI Fellowship — Germany
If you’re an international researcher working in Artificial Intelligence or a related field, this could be an opportunity to take your research to Germany.
The Heilbronn AI Fellowship, launched by the German Academic Exchange Service and the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, supports international PhD candidates in the final year before their dissertation defence and postdoctoral researchers who obtained their doctorate within the past five years.
Successful fellows can receive €2,800 per month, along with support for health, accident and personal liability insurance and a lump sum towards international travel costs.
Research stays can last between 1 and 12 months at eligible universities and research institutions on Bildungscampus Heilbronn.
And there’s an important advantage: applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with no fixed deadline.

Artists’ Contacts 2026 — International Arts & Cultural Exchange
If you’re an artist, curator, cultural practitioner or creative professional looking to take your work across borders, the ifa Artists’ Contacts programme could be worth exploring.
The programme supports international artistic and cultural exchange between Germany and countries in the Global South and countries in transition.
Funding can support activities such as working visits, research trips, exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops, lectures, conferences and performances.
The programme places a strong emphasis on meaningful international collaboration, knowledge exchange, sustainable networks, diversity, social cohesion and environmental responsibility.
Deadline to apply: 30 September 2026.
Supported projects will take place between March and November 2027, and applicants will be notified of decisions in February 2027.
