President Nangolo Mbumba addresses high-level Business Breakfast with Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry
During a business breakfast with the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President Nangolo Mbumba highlighted the strong historical ties between Namibia and Germany, emphasizing the importance of bilateral cooperation for socio-economic development. He discussed Namibia’s goals to diversify its economy beyond mining and agriculture into agro-processing and manufacturing, while also establishing the country as a logistical hub within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
Mbumba announced Namibia’s ambition to become a leading global producer of green hydrogen, inviting investors to explore opportunities in this emerging sector. He also noted ongoing collaborations with Germany for skills development. In closing, Mbumba encouraged more German businesses to invest in Namibia, assuring them of a stable environment and respect for the rule of law.
Presidential Spokesperson Dr Alfredo Hengari described the outcome of the meeting between President Nangolo Mbumba and German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier as promising for both countries. President Bumba highlighted the importance of reaching a deal on the question of genocide, apology and reparation, an agreement that speaks to the concerns and the demands of the affected communities and Namibia in general, and both leaders agree on the importance of an agreement that meets those expectations and both pledged that the final agreement will inevitably speak to the expectations of the Namibian people.
