President Nangolo Mbumba confers official funeral on late honourable Katrina Hanse-Himarwa
President Nangolo Mbumba, under the powers vested in him by Article 32 (3) (h) of the Namibian Constitution and section 3 (1) of the Conferment of National Honours Act, 2012 (Act No. 11 of 2012), has conferred the honour of an Official Funeral on the late Honourable Katrina Magdalena Hanse-Himarwa. Born on 22 January 1967, Honourable Hanse-Himarwa passed away on 14 July 2024 at the age of 57.
The remains of Honourable Hanse-Himarwa will be interred on a date and at a location to be determined in consultation with her family.
Honourable Hanse-Himarwa, a teacher by profession, made significant contributions to Namibia’s education sector during her tenure as the Minister of Education, Arts and Culture. Prior to her ministerial role, she served as the first female Governor of the Hardap Region from 2004 to 2015.
President Mbumba described Honourable Hanse-Himarwa as a passionate teacher and educationalist, commending her numerous achievements and dedication to improving the nation’s educational landscape. The nation mourns the loss of Honourable Katrina Hanse-Himarwa, recognizing her lasting impact on education and her trailblazing role in public service.
