At the inauguration of the new training centre at Indongo Toyota, which is part of the Frans Indongo Group’s automotive division, Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare commended the company’s dedication to supporting the objectives of the Sixth National Development Plan.

The NDP6 emphasises the importance of human capital development and technical skills training, as key drivers of industrialisation, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

According to Indongo Toyota Windhoek Dealer Principal, Tanja Beukes, the newly inaugurated N$2 million training facility, welcomed its first cohort of trainees on 1 October 2025.

The programme is being implemented in collaboration with Toyota South Africa Motors, with the first group of internal candidates already certified under Toyota standards.

Beukes added that the training centre will offer three main programmes: an apprenticeship for school leavers with Grade 11 or 12 qualifications, a work-integrated learning (WIL) programme in partnership with established TVET institutions, and on-site refresher courses for companies with existing workshops and technicians.

In addition, between 10 and 18 trainees will be selected annually during the pilot phase.
