Roots & Wings at The Project Room
Every year the Project Room holds a curated, themed group exhibition. The theme for 2017 is ROOTS & WINGS.
Many artists submitted work and interpretations of the theme went from figurative to tradition/upbringing/heritage to poems/performances and family created pieces.
Roots & Wings will combine jewelry, ceramics, photography, sculpture, painting and print as well performance and poetry. The work of 29 artists will be exhibited, some well known artists in Namibia like David Amukoto, Nicky Marais, Juliart, Rika Nel, Barbara Boelke, Lukas Amakali, Mitchell Gatsi as well as newcomer’s like Elisia Nghidishange, Mathews Alfeus, Lara Diez, Tina Basson to name a few. There were even submissions from outside of Namibia so there will be work displayed by two SA artists.
Because of the large and varied amount of work this exhibition it will extend beyond the gallery space of the Project Room and will show some work & performance outside in the garden.
The exhibition ROOTS & WINGS will open on Friday the 10th of November at 18h00 at the Project Room in 32 Jenner Street, Windhoek West and is on until the 25th of November.
