Wanted teacher surrenders to police over alleged rape of his niece

A teacher who had been on the run for two weeks after allegedly raping his 13-year-old niece surrendered himself to the Ndiyona police station on Sunday morning in the Kavango East Region.

Ndiyona station commander, Albin Joseph, confirmed this to NewsOnOne.

Alexandra Shampampi Ndango, a teacher at Ncwa Junior Primary School, had been wanted by the police following allegations that he raped his niece at Makena village on 29 May 2026.

According to the family spokesperson, Lindo Cervatius, the teenager had gone to assist her uncle with babysitting his child while the child’s mother was away.

It is alleged that Ndango sent his niece to fetch a diaper for the baby which was when the suspect allegedly raped the girl.

The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 June 2026.
