Windhoek man longs to reunite with missing twin sisters

By: Victoria Ashipala

A 53-year-old Windhoek man is appealing for public assistance in tracing his missing older twin sisters.
Frederick Ngalangobe says the police officers investigating the case have taken long and he has not been provided with timely updates.

He said Febe and Foibe Ngalangobe disappeared from the NG church shelter in Windhoek 10 and five years ago, respectively.

Ngalangobe alleged that after Febe went missing from the shelter, she was last seen at the Ariamsvlei border post on her way to South Africa.

He claims Foibe went missing from the same shelter in September 2021 and was last seen at Zoo park in Windhoek.

He stated the police never circulated missing persons’ reports for his 61-year-old sisters.

“For these two police officers who are investigating this case, they are taking time, because they are not giving me enough valid information. I’m thinking they are not doing their jobs, because 10 years and nine months, is a long time,” remarked Ngalangobe.

Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi said they have been investigating Febe’s case since 2017, but it has not yielded any positive outcome to date.

Shikwambi said the police have no record of Foibe reported missing.

“Necessary investigations were applied and through our Interpol office, they communicated with South Africa and put up an Interpol yellow notice, that this is a missing persons notice globally, to indicate that Namibia is looking for this particular person named Febe Ngalangobe,” stated Shikwambi.

An employee at the shelter, Amelia Anderson, said she never met Febe. She confirmed caring for Foibe who was checked in by Ngalangobe.

In addition, the NG church administrator Alma Myburgh, who worked there for 29 years, told NewsOnOne that the shelter was only established in 2016, making it impossible for Febe to have stayed there in 2015.

She added that they do not keep records of people who checked in at the shelter because of the high number of people they accommodate.
