World Radio Day 2020 – Celebrating Diversity

As we celebrate World Radio Day 2020, it’s important to note that despite global trends, TV, print and the internet have not managed to kill radio.

In fact, radio continues to be the biggest media platform in Namibia and 99FM is celebrating the impact that this powerful media platform has had on promoting diversity.

According to the IPPR report titled Namibia’s Media: Facing the Digital Challenge, Namibia has seen a considerable increase in media outlets since independence, with the growth of commercial and community radio stations over recent years is particularly noteworthy.

Why we love radio

Radio is a powerful medium for celebrating humanity in all its diversity and continues to be a platform for dynamic, democratic and introspective discussions.

Radio has a unique ability to reach out to the widest audience and through this, can shape a society’s experience of diversity, give citizens a platform to speak out, be heard and be represented.

Celebrating Diversity on 99FM

As evident on our vibrant content slots and representative music selection, 99FM is all for diversity – offering listeners a wide variety of programs, viewpoints, and content that reflect them in all their uniqueness.
