– The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) and Namibia Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding further extending a previous agreement to create a framework of coordination and collaboration on Aeronautical Radio Frequency Spectrum and Radio Telephony Licences (restricted and general) for pilots, flight engineers and air traffic service personnel in accordance with Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) of International Civil Organisation (ICAO) and for approval of relevant facilities. – CRAN

– South Africa has said the UN should deploy what it calls “a rapid protection force” to intervene in the Israel-Gaza conflict “to protect the civilian population from further bombardment”. In a hard-hitting statement, the international relations ministry highlighted the number of children who have been killed so far in the conflict and also accused Israel of violating international law. – BBC

– Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, saying it would amount to a “surrender to Hamas”. Speaking in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu cites the Bible as he says “this is a time for war”. – BBC

– Argentina and Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has won the Men’s Ballon d’Or for an eighth time. The 36-year-old was recognised at the ceremony in Paris after helping his country win the World Cup in Qatar last year. – BBC Sport
