Desert Elephants and the Journey for Water

Namibia’s Desert Dwelling Elephants are one of only two populations worldwide that that adapted to live in a desert environment. Sometimes these Elephants walk up to 70 kilometres at night to find water points, water points shared with humans.

In this episode of the MYD Earth Show we speak to Elephant–Human Relations Aid or EHRA, about the work they do to mitigate the possible conflict in the strife for water in the arid desert.

Elephant Human Relations runs an elephant conservation and volunteer project in Namibia, aiming to find long-term sustainable solutions to the ever-growing problem of facilitating the peaceful co-habitation between the subsistence farmers, community members and the desert-adapted elephants.
