2240 Job Seekers Placed in Different Establishments Countrywide
Since the announcement of the designated employers and registration of job seekers by Honourable Minister Erkki Nghimtina in August last year, the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation has so far placed more than 2240 job seekers for employment in different employment establishments countrywide.
Honourable Nghimtina called upon all employers employing 25 employees and above, to register as designated employers and report all vacancies within their establishments to this Ministry. The directive was done in fulfillment of the Employment Service Act (Act 8 of 2011).
Ms Maria N. Hedimbi Chief Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation says Government, through the office of the Prime Minister is also required to register as a designated employer as Government employs more than 25 employees. Hedimbi says anyone can apply as long as they need the requirements expected from designated employers.
Spotlight News spoke to Ms Maria N. Hedimbi Chief Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation on the ministry’s initiative in creating jobs for job seekers which was started by the ministry in 2015.
Ms. Hedimbi highlights amongst others the fact that:
