Parents Urged to Demand Registration Certificates from Private Schools Upon Enrolment
“Once a school has been identified as unregistered, the school is informed not to continue operating and also advised to apply for registration in accordance with the Education Act. Thereafter if the unregistered private school or tuition centre does not adhere to the directive to close down, then legal action is instituted against such a school in order for it to close,” said Johanna Absalom Media Practitioner at the Ministry of Education Arts and Culture.
Absolom said this as the Ministry has noted with concern that some private schools are operating without being registered with the ministry. Absalom said the ministry is currently aware of two schools operating illegally, one in Khomas Region and the other in Omusati Region.
