Afrospection with Mappz

Matthew Kapofi aka Mappz is a man of many talents as a Hip Hop Artist, Producer and Radio Presenter on 99FM’s The Pulse. Here Mappz shares his learnings and lessons from the past year, his self examination from Africa… his Afrospection.

Looking back…

Q: How would you describe your 2017?

A: 2017 has been an exceptional year for me thus far because I was given the honour and opportunity to work with some extraordinary people and host some of the biggest events in Namibia.

Q: What was something good that came out of 2017?

A: First is my baby girl Penelao who was born in March, Second is hosting the Namibian Annual Music Awards alongside Uejaa Kazodunge & South African Personality Bonang Matheba, Third is hosting the Presidents Cup: Dr Hage Geingob Cup and lastly is hosting the East, Central and Southern African Employers Federation Conference on 14 & 15 Feb 2017.

Q: What challenged you in 2017 and how did you overcome this challenge?

A: The challenge for me was time management & stress that comes with organising events, I learned to cope with this by getting a mentor and selecting like minded people who are willing to put quality over quantity.

Q: What was your favourite Art in 2017? Theatre, music, movie, artist or art collection…

A: My favourite Art is The Boy Jay’s 2017 Mixtape, The Drive and the 2017 Namibian Film Salute.

Q: What was your biggest health and wellness learning of 2017?

A: I learned that drinking lemon water in the morning can do wonders for your body and discovered that life is what you make it.

Q: What was your biggest personal development learning of 2017?

A: I learned to be more accountable for my actions and more aware of my emotions when certain things happen.

Q: What is your favourite food in December?

A: I enjoy Traditional Oshiwambo & sea food.

Q: What is your favourite Namibian destination?

A: Ongenga

Q: Where do you find your inspiration?

A: I find it in music, nature, in sincere human beings and painful situations.

Q: What is your wish for the world for 2018?

A: I wish my family, my fans and my friends success as well as a long fulfilling & passionate life.

Q: What is your wish for Namibia for 2018?

A: My wish for Namibia in 2018 is for our citizens to more patriotic, to respect the arts and to create various youth employment opportunities.

Q: What is your wellness goal for 2018?

A: My wellness goal is to start travelling more and put more effort in building my empire.
