#SharePositiveStories – Keep Hephata Care Centre going by sharing their story
Today On One and 99FM have changed many lives with the stories we tell. In the past, the public responded with donations or financial assistance and we’re hoping that this project gets the same love if more people help us spread awareness.
Meet Regina Kondobolo, an amazing woman who despite her own personal challenges, is making a big difference in her community through her care centre.
“I take them in because I believe that nursing is a calling and I enjoy what I do,” says Hephata Care Centre founder, Regina Kondobolo. The centre takes in people living with mental illness who usually roam the streets when their family members chase them out of their homes.
Being wheelchair-bound herself, Regina also suffers from diabetes and other chronic illnesses. That has however not stopped her from caring for others. Sharing her story with Today On One recently, she pleaded with the public to stop stigmatising people living with disabilities. She also appealed for assistance from the public to help keep the centre going.
Always there when it matters
Because Today On One is always there by sharing stories like Regina’s, and because 99FM loves spreading positive stories, we are appealing to the public to share Regina’s story and keep Hephata going. Together with Neo Paints, we want to create awareness for the centre and in so doing, get more people to know about the project and help them with financial contributions. #TodayOnOne and 99FM will also splash a dose of colour on the Care Centre with a 200-litre paint donation courtesy of Neo Paints.
