Talking sustainability as an approach to life, business and the longevity of a town, in this episode of the MYD Earth Show we speak to Charnelle Fortuin and Emilie Iyambo.
Charnelle is the Sustainability Coordinator and Emilie is the Senior Sustainability Officer at Namdeb Diamond Corporation, based in the town of Oranjemund. The two share on sustainability, why it’s necessary and as well on how it is being used in the plans to make the town of Oranjemund an open and non-restricted town.
“In one sentence, sustainability is ‘enough for all forever’.”
In this MYD show podcast we find out:
- What sustainability is and how this model for life is being used to ensure the town of Oranjemund has life after mining operations are over in the town.
- Why sustainability has many arms for innovation and development that will take individuals, communities and countries into the future
“I see sustainability as the fabric of life going forward, you can’t separate it form anything you do. It affects people on an individual basis and when you look out there so you really can’t separate it form how you operate, it takes a while for people to see that but when they come around then… a mind that has been expanded, can’t be contracted.”
