ICAN Passport to the World – If They Can I Can with Chris Botha

Welcome to the ICAN Passport to the World series.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia have invited 99FM’s Kirsty Watermeyer to meet some of their members. Namibians who have built their careers and lives around the field of accounting. These Namibians are the shapers of industry, captains in their fields, who are growing and building business in Namibia.

One such Namibian whose journey to become an accountant is pure Namibian inspiration is that of Chris Botha, Co-Founder and CEO of PayToday Namibia.

“There’s a certain status  or value attached to a CA and a lot of that comes from, from integrity.”

Chris grew up in Windhoek and completed his studies at the University of Stellenbosch in 2004. He completed his articles at KPMG Namibia and then moved to Luxemburg where he worked at Deloitte for 7 years.

“In hindsight I felt very prepared for starting my own business which I think is an invaluable gift or tool that a chartered accountant profession gives you.”

In 2015, he left Deloitte Luxembourg as a Senior Manager in the Audit Department and joined the PayToday team.

“I always say if you sleep well and you enjoy your work, that’s sixteen hours of your day, that’s pretty much covered and then figure out the rest later, so it’s very important that people don’t get stuck in their work.”

Watch his incredible story with us… If You Can #ICAN.
