ICAN Passport to the World – If They Can I Can with Graeme Mouton
Welcome to the ICAN Passport to the World series.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia have invited 99FM’s Kirsty Watermeyer to meet some of their members. Namibians who have built their careers and lives around the field of accounting. These Namibians are the shapers of industry, captains in their fields, who are growing and building business in Namibia.
One such Namibian whose journey to become an accountant is pure Namibian inspiration is that of Graeme Mouton, Executive Director & Financial Director at Namibia Breweries Ltd.
“…my parents always drove me to you can become the best you can be, so they always had a big influence on my life and from the time I can remember, I just, I always had in mind that I wanted to be great at whatever I do…”
Graeme started his articles in 2001 at Deloitte where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and worked as an audit manager, before joining the O&L Group in 2005 as a Finance Manager at the O&L Centre.
“You lead people and you start developing their success as well.”
At the end of 2007, he was seconded to work as a Management Accountant at Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited in Accra – a Diageo subsidiary – for 19 months before returning to Namibia in the role as Strategic Planning & Decision Support Manager at NBL.
“Always live your purpose. We actually going through this whole journey of understanding your purpose and understanding how it fits into the environment you’re in and why you are doing specific things in life and I’m still learning new things about myself on a daily basis.”
In January 2011, he joined Model Pick ’n Pay as Financial Director; and returned to NBL as Head of Finance on 01 July 2013.
