ICAN Passport to the World – If They Can I Can with Nangula Uuandja.
Welcome to the ICAN Passport to the World series.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia have invited 99FM’s Kirsty Watermeyer to meet some of their members. Namibians who have built their careers and lives around the field of accounting. These Namibians are the shapers of industry, captains in their fields, who are growing and building business in Namibia.
One such Namibian whose journey to become an accountant is pure Namibian inspiration is that of Nangula Uuandja, Country Senior Partner at PwC. Nangula as over 18 years’ experience in auditing and has served as partner on audits of various financial services institutions, state owned enterprises, energy and utilities as well donor-funded organisations.
In May 2015, Nangula was honoured to lead the team that prepared the voluntary asset disclosures of the President of Namibia, His Excellency, Dr. Hage Geingob and First Lady, Ms. Monica Geingos.
“…I should pursue a qualification that will help me help my father…so I actually found out for me to help my father with his tax challenges I need to study accounting and become a Chartered Accountant.”
“Over the years there’s many people that I’ve admired in the profession , that I’ve looked up to, like Dawie Fourie who was our Managing Partner here, Albie Botha was also a Managing Partner here, Louis van der Riet one of my mentors and I believe is the best auditor in Namibia.”
“There’s something that I used to tell myself. And sometimes I tell my children that what man has done, man can do. If something can be done. And sometimes I focus on the end, where is the goal , where am I headed? What do I want to achieve?”
