Financial wellness took centre stage at the 45th Annual Medical Congress, recently hosted by the Medical Association of Namibia (MAN) at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, as healthcare professionals explored the importance of financial security alongside their demanding careers.
The focus on financial wellness formed part of the congress’s broader commitment to promoting holistic well-being within the medical profession. Held under the theme “Wellness in Medicine,” the two-day event, from 10 to 11 July 2026, brought together healthcare professionals, medical experts and key stakeholders.
Delegates reflected on the well-being of those entrusted with caring for communities, highlighting the growing need to support healthcare workers beyond their clinical responsibilities.
Discussions also emphasised that true wellness extends beyond physical health to include emotional, professional, and financial well-being.
Participants noted that medical professionals face unique financial pressures linked to running practices, investing in specialised equipment, supporting their families, planning for retirement and building generational wealth.
The congress also explored the evolving demands of the healthcare sector and the importance of equipping practitioners with the resources needed to thrive.
Speakers stressed that innovation, ethical leadership, continuous professional development, collaboration and stronger support systems are essential to safeguarding the well-being of healthcare professionals and ensuring they can continue delivering quality care to communities across Namibia
