Jermain Ketji, or Ketji as he is known by most, is the Community Engagement Manager for Wilderness Safaris and has been in community based conservation and the tourism sector for over 12 years. His love of nature started when as a young boy he would herd goats, today he is a senior manager, in charge of assisting many Namibian communities.
“What the conservation story is doing is to utilise this land and add economic value, so that out of that land we are harvesting benefits that also help sustain the economy.”
In this episode of the MYD Show, we chat to Ketji about his life, his learning and the wisdoms of the elders.
“I live by the brand, One Heart – One Love. We should start there, everything we do, We Are One. I don’t want to say one nation, we are bigger than a nation, we are human beings, we’ve got love and we’ve got hearts, lets begin to live by that and be constantly conscious about emotions in others as much as we are about our own emotions.”
In this MYD show podcast we find out:
- How Ketji’s love of nature came about
- His proudest moments in the work in communal conservation that he does
- The wisdom that the elders have shared with him that he shares with us
