Suicide cases, a clarion call for action!

The rise in suicide cases is a clarion call for action. This was said by the Namibian Police Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, further urging the public to play their part in addressing this crisis. Nampol Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi emphasizes the need to support those who are weak and vulnerable. “Let us commit to working together, supporting each other, particularly the young, and creating a world where no one feels that suicide is their only option,” said Shikwambi.

Regarding housebreaking, Nampol, in its weekend crime and incidence report, revealed an increase in the number of reported housebreakings in the country. Shikwambi noted that this rise can be attributed to various factors, including economic pressures, drug addiction, and, in some cases, a lack of adequate security measures. The report highlights housebreakings where elderly individuals living alone are victims, emphasizing the urgent need for families to support the vulnerable. The community is urged to work together to reclaim the safety and peace of neighborhoods. It further states that neighborhood watch platforms are working very effectively in some towns and are highly encouraged. “I urge the community to take collective action to protect our homes and preserve the sense of security that every individual deserves,” Shikwambi added.
