– The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation has proposed a National Minimum Wage (NMW) of N$18 per hour. Online magazine, The Brief reports that the Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation Utoni Nujoma has expressed the intention to conclude necessary consultative and Cabinet processes to implement the NMW by the first quarter of the upcoming year. – The Brief
– More than 1.6 million people in Somalia could be affected by the recent unusually heavy seasonal rains, the United Nations has warned. The UN has released $25m in aid, describing the floods as a “once-in-a-century event.” – BBC
– Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry has issued an update about the situation at the Al-Shifa hospital, saying there are at least 2,300 people still inside the hospital. The update says there are between 600 and 650 inpatients in the hospital, as well as 200 to 500 health workers and around 1,500 displaced people who have sought shelter. – BBC
– Unbeaten lightweight Ernesto “Tito” Mercado (13-0, 12 KOs) scored a second round Technical Knockout over former world title challenger Jeremia Nakathila on Saturday night in Ontario, California. According to Fight news.com, Mercado dropped Nakathila in round two and got a referee’s stoppage with his follow-up barrage.
