Windhoek Ready To Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
The private and public sector, schools and passionate individuals joined forces on 22 October for the first ever Windhoek Recycle Day. The day, introduced by the Recycle Forum Namibia (RNF), is part of the Forum’s
quest to make Namibia the country with the highest success rate in the 3R’s of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling.
Through this initiative, the RNF is aiming to inspire and involve Windhoek residents, the corporate sector and the government, as well as the public at large to get involved in recycling for all of our sakes.
As we’ve heard before on MYD Earth, there are many benefits of recycling that include benefits for the economy. In this episode of MYD Earth we spoke to a Namibian company that was one of the founding members of the Recycle Forum Namibia and that has seen the benefits of a sustainability focus in their business.
In this episode of 99FM’s MYD Earth, the Managing Director of Plastic Packaging, Jaco Venter, joins us to share with us how plastic packaging is being part of the recycling solution in Namibia and how more businesses could follow in their lead.
We were also joined in studio by Gloudi de Beer, the chairperson of the Recycle Forum Namibia to share with us about Namibia’s first ever recycle day.
Here are some of the areas covered in this episode of MYD Earth :
- What Plastic Packaging is doing to address the negative reputation of plastic bags and what can be done to reduce plastic bag littering
- How companies can be part of the recycling solution and what improvements this can make on your bottom line
- How you can dispose of plastic bag safely in a manner that is not harmful to the environment
- What Windhoekers can expect from the first ever Recycle Day
