All round lovely, Nelao Nengola is a personal trainer, wellness coach and the owner of Power Poise Fitness and Wellness Studio.

This year she showed us all the depths of her bravery and here Nelao shares her learnings and lessons from the past year, her self examination from Africa… her Afrospection.

Looking back…

Q: How would you describe your 2017?

A: The most intense, character building year thus far. Every lesson was intense and unavoidable. All darkness came to light and everything that no longer served me was cut loose. It was a year of growth.

Q: What was something good that came out of 2017?

A:  I learned that I am fully capable of creating the life of my dreams and that as long as I’m willing to work for it, the only person whose permission I need is my own. It was also a year of personal liberation.

Q: What was your biggest personal development learning of 2017?

A:  I learned to accept myself, forgive myself, and be grateful for the gift that is my life. Life will have so many ups and downs and if you can get to where, no matter what happens, you can look at yourself in the mirror and be happy with reflection looking back at you than you are winning!

As for the Holidays…

Q: What is your favourite food in December?

A: I love fruit! Pineapple, raspberries and strawberries. I will spend many December afternoons with a book and big bowl of fruit.

Q: What is your favourite Namibian destination?

A: Swakopmund is my all time favorite Namibian destination. The beautiful sand dunes against the ocean, the beauty is breathtaking.

Q: What book should we all be reading?

A: Any of Brene Brown’s books starting with ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’.

Q: Where do you find your inspiration?

A: I am inspired by people who have the courage to live boldly, authentically and passionately. Whenever I see someone living fully in their purpose, the light in me shines a little brighter than before. I make it a point to seek these people out.

Looking Forward…

Q: What is your mantra for life?

A: ‘Don’t look for happiness, create it’

Q: What is your wish for the world for 2018?

A: My wish is that we take bigger steps toward a global revolution of love, joy, prosperity and peace. I hope that we all start to awaken to our inner voice. That voice not only speaks for our greater good but also for the greater good of the collective.

Q: What is your wish for Namibia for 2018?

A:  I wish that we begin to prioritise the cultivation of an enviroment which supports the deveopment of our greatest asset, our people. The health, growth and prosperity of the nation depends on it.

Q: What is your wellness goal for 2018?

A: My wellness goal for 2018 is to continue to find balance in mind, body and spirit. I am challenging myself to do something I am terrified to do, like maybe run a race? I’m very excited for 2018!
