The MYD Show – The Power of Will with Silas-Kishi Shakumu
Silas-Kishi Shakumu is a Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia, but to become a lawyer meant he had to work many jobs and rely on the support of many community members. Today he shares his skills with many community members. In this episode of the MYD Show we speak to Mr. Shakumu about the power of will.
“As a lawyer practicing in the North, we set aside two weeks every three months to spend time with the Grade 11’s and 12’s in remote schools or schools in rural areas. Then we would explain to them, we would demonstrate to them what it means to be a lawyer, teach them introduction to legal interpretation etc. So now when I go to court, those kids that we trained… today they are lawyers. 70% of those kids, I used to be with in the North, today they are lawyers against whom I am appearing.”
In this MYD show podcast we find out:
- How Silas-Kishi harnessed the power of his will to become a lawyer
