The MYD Show : 29 – Depression and Mental Health
The World Health Organization characterizes depression as one of the most disabling disorders in the world. The numbers show that depression effects many more people than one would like, yet it is still an illness shrouded in stigma.
Depression is such a dark pit that it robs a person from the beauty of the light that lives within each and every one of us.
In this episode of MYD we looked at depression with a view to understanding this debilitating illness in order to be equipped to make choices that would lead to recovery and a state of mental health.
Joining us in studio we had psychiatrist, Dr. Gerhard Marx explain what depression is from a medical perspective including possible treatment options. We were also joined by Karen Powell, a creativity coach who facilitates programs that have helped people break free from the chains of depression and we were also joined by Laurika Pretorius a woman who knows first-hand as she has suffered from depression for most of her life.
