What Namibia is Doing for World Rhino Day

All around the world, on the 22nd of September, people are joining in to take a stand for our Rhinos, all for World Rhino Day.

Globally activities are underway that look to raise funds for the fight against poaching and create awareness around the plight of this majestic animal. Here in Namibia a campaign is about to be launched that shows what can be achieved when Namibians stand together with one voice.

Save the Rhino Trust are spearheading activities for World Rhino Day here in Namibia, but they are not working alone as Namibian musicians have come forward to create a unique and original song for World Rhino Day.

99FM’s MYD Earth sat down with Ginger Mauney , one of the trustees of the Save the Rhino Trust, to talk about what Namibia has in store for World Rhino Day and also what is really happening in the field and through the work of organisations that are fighting to protect our Rhinos.

gingerGinger gave us a pre-listen to the World Rhino Day song with Elemotho and other incredible Namibian artists, which you’ll hear in this episode of MYD Earth.

Here are some of the areas covered in this episode of MYD Earth :

  • What exciting initiative Namibia has come up with to participate in World Rhino Day
  • How passionate Namibians mean Rhinos here have a fighting chance
  • The work of the Save the Rhino Trackers in the field and why this is important
  • How you can help in the fight against Rhino poachers and what you should be looking out for to help fight poaching
