“Woke for me, pretty much means to be conscious and to be aware. The topic of self awareness we spoke about, I think they all fit in together and we actually, as humans, we have to be awake and aware, and conscious of our surroundings because no one man is an island, you don’t exist on your own, you need a society and a nurturing environment around you to shape you into who you are and who you will eventually become.”
In this MYD show podcast we find out:
- Marita’s take on social activism
- How social activism has the power to enable communities
- What Marita feels we should ask questions about our happiness in a situation to challenges norms that are inappropriate
- How Marita feels respect is what is needed to overcome differences and difficulties
