The MYD Show – A Mind of My Own with Althea Van Wyk
In this episode of the MYD Show, we chat to a brain coach, who teaches Neuroplasticity here in Namibia. Althea Van Wyk has two psychology degrees, yet it was her passion for the brains ability to change itself that saw her become a brain coach.
“I believe that it is very important that we start to focus on contemporary science where we start to help and treat people based on the natural way that we have been developed to improve. For example brain training. Brain training can improve the brain and bring the changes that’s needed naturally without medication.”
In this episode of the MYD Show, Althea shares with us how the brain changes and how this can help us to own our own thoughts and minds.
“The scientific name for it is Neuroplasticity. This refers to the ability of the brain to change throughout our life, simply said we have the ability, the brain has the ability to reorganise itself by forming new connections in our brain cells. Neuroplasticity involves the neural circuits and it goes as deep as changing both levels of the structure and the function. It goes into the molecular, the cellular and the synaptic changes as far as the global network changes.”
