Keep Worry in Check with Relaxation Time
“Generally, to maintain one’s overall well-being, a visit to the spa will leave you with a sense of vitality, new found energy and joy.”
Would you consider yourself an excessive worrier? Did you know that worrying can affect the body in ways that may surprise you. When worrying becomes excessive, it can lead to feelings of high anxiety and even cause you to be physically ill. To counter this we all need effective anti-worrying skills or an action plan to de-stress and reduce worry.
One such action plan could be an outing to a day spa or other such pampering to take you out of your worrying space and give your mind a chance to recuperate.
99FM’s MYD Heart sat down with the owner of Nomad Spa in Windhoek, Mariane Akwenye, to find out a little bit more about this award winning spa.

1. What makes Nomad Spa unique?

Some of the reasons why chronic worry is bad for a person:
- Chronic worrying can affect your daily life by interfering with your appetite, relationships and job performance.
- Chronic worry and emotional stress can trigger a host of health problems. The problem occurs when fight or flight is triggered daily by excessive worrying and anxiety. The fight or flight response causes the body’s sympathetic nervous system to release stress hormones such as cortisol.
- Physical responses to stress involve your immune system, your heart and blood vessels, and how certain glands in your body secrete hormones. These hormones help to regulate various functions in your body, such as brain function and nerve impulses.
